Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. As a Staff GRC Specialist for APAC, you'll anchor the Information Security team's governance, risk, and compliance efforts across the Asia-Pacific region, reporting to the Senior GRC Manager.
You'll serve as the regional point of contact for regulatory bodies, customers, partners, and vendors, managing the implementation and monitoring of security controls across frameworks like PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and SOC2. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing security policies and procedures that balance regional regulatory requirements with global standards, developing security documentation and reporting metrics, and becoming a subject matter expert that Airwallex teams rely on.
This is a highly autonomous role requiring strong project management skills and the ability to work independently across time zones. You'll leverage automation and AI to streamline compliance work, execute security tasks hands-on, and iterate on compliance challenges rather than treating them as boxes to check. The role requires deep knowledge of information security concepts, compliance frameworks, and ideally experience in finance-sector or APAC-specific regulatory environments.
You'll work largely remotely, coordinating with the global Information Security team and cross-functional stakeholders. An ideal candidate has either an IT engineering background or technology-focused legal background with demonstrated experience in information security compliance, retaining practical security skills. You should be comfortable speaking with regulatory entities, delivering required information, and balancing the tension between challenging industry norms and meeting regional/global standards.
