Shield AI is seeking a Staff Field Solutions Engineer to serve as a customer-facing technical expert for its simulation, synthetic environment, and AI-enabled mission system capabilities. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer engagement, requiring the ability to translate complex defense requirements into credible solution concepts.
Key responsibilities include supporting customer discovery, technical briefings, demonstrations, and proposal efforts across Australia, the Indo-Pacific, AUKUS, and allied markets. You will explain advanced defense simulation technologies—including image generation systems, synthetic environments, platform-in-a-box systems, threat models, live-virtual-constructive architectures, sensor simulation, and AI-enabled synthetic agents—to technical, operational, commercial, and leadership audiences.
You will partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Capture, Product, Engineering, Customer Engagement, and Program teams to represent customer requirements, identify roadmap gaps, and provide field feedback. This includes helping customers evaluate how advanced simulation and synthetic environments support operational training, mission rehearsal, test and evaluation, experimentation, force modernization, and AI/autonomy development.
Responsibilities also encompass developing technical sales assets (capability briefs, demo scripts, solution templates, white papers, technical explainers), maintaining product truth in customer-facing materials, and building trusted relationships with customer technical stakeholders, operational users, acquisition stakeholders, and regional partners.
Required qualifications include 7+ years in modeling and simulation, training systems, test and evaluation, image generation systems, synthetic environments, defense software, aerospace systems, solutions engineering, or related technical customer-facing roles. You must have direct hands-on experience with advanced defense simulation, training, or test environments, and practical experience with image generation systems, synthetic environments, threat models, constructive entities, sensor simulation, or live-virtual-constructive environments. Strong understanding of how simulation systems support operational training, mission rehearsal, experimentation, and capability development is essential. You must demonstrate ability to translate customer requirements into feasible solution concepts, strong written and verbal communication skills, cross-functional collaboration ability, and willingness to travel internationally. Based in or regularly supporting activities in Melbourne is required.
