Form Energy is hiring a Staff EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Engineer to lead health and safety operations at its Berkeley, California facility and nearby project sites. The role focuses on supporting a fast-paced engineering and testing environment for advanced iron-air battery systems.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs and training; leading EHS review processes including risk assessments and job hazard analyses for complex engineering operations; conducting pre-startup safety reviews for commissioning novel equipment and systems; reviewing hazard identification (HAZID) and hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies with engineering teams; managing hazard communication, chemical hygiene, and chemical safety programs; supporting industrial hygiene programs including exposure assessments; leading safety committee and emergency response team meetings; supporting incident response and root cause analysis; and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of EHS experience, preferably in engineering environments, with a bachelor's degree in a related field. Required expertise includes knowledge of EHS regulations at local, state, and federal levels; battery engineering and testing; chemical hygiene; hazardous atmospheres; and NFPA 70E standards. The role requires demonstrated ability to obtain organizational buy-in for safety initiatives, communicate effectively across teams, and manage projects with strong problem-solving skills.
