Datadog is seeking a Staff Developer Advocate - Leadership to serve as a technical leader and mentor anchoring the advocacy team. This role combines deep engineering expertise with creative storytelling to shape how technical executives understand and engage with observability, DevOps, and security technologies.
You will own projects end-to-end, driving Datadog's executive-level advocacy programs and first-party technical event content (DASH, Datadog Summits). Your focus will be on technical executive storytelling—coaching Datadog's product and engineering leaders and customer counterparts to tell compelling stories that build credibility with CTO, VP Engineering, and technical architect audiences.
Key responsibilities include: defining and executing executive advocacy strategies; representing Datadog's technical point-of-view at conferences and events; partnering with internal leaders to enhance their public communication and presentation skills; curating content for major events; and creating multi-format content (demos, talks, blogs, documentation, webinars, open source contributions, research reports) to establish Datadog as a leader in DevOps, Observability, and Security.
You bring 5+ years as a software developer, SRE, or technical practitioner; 8+ years in senior technical leadership (Principal Engineer, VP/Director, or Staff Developer Advocate) collaborating with peer leaders on technical direction; and 3+ years creating compelling technical content with publicly available samples. You have coached others to deliver compelling talks, ideally to executive audiences, and have experience organizing or collaborating on technical conferences and events. You're self-driven in exploring new technologies and languages.
Nice-to-haves include experience localizing technical content for regional teams and multilingual capabilities. Datadog offers competitive salary, equity (RSU), ESPP, continuous professional development, sales training (MEDDIC, Command of the Message), mentorship programs, inclusive culture, and comprehensive global benefits.
