The company is building human-led, AI-enhanced learning experiences at global scale. As a Staff Data Scientist, you will own the data strategy for a critical product domain (Growth, Retention, or Marketplace) and serve as the senior analytical authority. You will partner with Directors and VPs across Product, Engineering, and Business to shape long-term strategy, influence investment decisions, and ensure the roadmap is grounded in rigorous, scalable measurement frameworks. Key responsibilities include: - Develop strategic understanding of key value drivers (user behavior, marketplace dynamics, pricing, unit economics) and translate into actionable decision frameworks for leadership - Define long-term measurement and experimentation strategy, identifying structural growth levers beyond incremental optimization - Design and execute large-scale experiments to test new ideas and measure business impact - Lead deep analytical investigations into customer behavior and retention dynamics, reframing ambiguous questions into structured analyses - Own impact modeling and scenario analysis for major product initiatives, enabling quarterly and annual planning through forecasting and trade-off analysis - Define and govern key metrics within your domain, ensuring clarity and alignment with company objectives - Act as senior thought partner to product, engineering, and data leaders, driving alignment and elevating analytical standards - Lead cross-domain initiatives (company-wide LTV modeling, pricing strategy, marketplace health) Required qualifications: - Demonstrated track record of materially influencing product or business strategy in complex environments with clear company-level impact - Expertise in experimentation and causal inference, operating under imperfect conditions and guiding high-stakes decisions - Strong understanding of subscription and marketplace economics (LTV modeling, cohort dynamics, retention, pricing, long-term value optimization) - Strong technical proficiency in SQL and Python with ability to review and elevate analytical work, set coding standards, and design scalable workflows - Experience mentoring and technically guiding senior data scientists - Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and proactive challenge identification - Ability to influence Director and VP-level stakeholders and drive clarity in strategic discussions Nice-to-have: background in 2-sided marketplaces or digital B2C/B2B2C businesses, product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap), advanced analytical methods (forecasting, causal modeling, pricing optimization), data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI), Master's or PhD in quantitative field, experience developing senior data scientists.
