Gradient AI is a decision-intelligence platform for the insurance industry, backed by $56M in Series C funding. The company helps carriers, brokers, consultants, and specialized insurance organizations make better risk decisions by leveraging a vast industry data lake containing tens of millions of policies and claims enriched with economic, health, geographic, and demographic signals.
You will join as a Staff Data Scientist to lead complex modeling and analytical projects of broad scope. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will drive cross-product initiatives with minimal direction, set the technical approach for ambiguous problems, and raise the bar for the entire data science team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leverage modern deep learning, large language models, and traditional data science techniques to create powerful hybrid models with measurable business uplift
- Move quickly from brainstorming and prototyping through proof-of-concept, deployment, and market realization
- Work on world-class problems: big data, federated learning, unstructured data challenges, time-series and sequence modeling, and a full spectrum of techniques from GLMs and XGBoost to Transformers
- Tell compelling data stories that inspire trust in customers, stakeholders, and prospects
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists, establishing best practices and technical standards
- Collaborate across product, engineering, and customer success to translate analytical insights into business impact
The role is fully remote with hybrid flexibility available for those local to Boston. You'll work with a talented data science team solving high-impact problems in a fast-scaling, well-funded company.
