Salary: USD 155,000 - 187,000 / annual
Flex is a growth-stage fintech company headquartered in NYC that is transforming rent payment by enabling renters to pay throughout the month on a flexible schedule that fits their finances. As a Staff Data Scientist reporting to the Director of Analytics, you will play a critical strategic role in shaping Flex's future by guiding key analytics projects across Go-To-Market and Account Management teams.
You will champion truth-seeking across the business, bringing clarity to complex analytical challenges. Your responsibilities include: creating scalable analytical frameworks that connect insights across the business into interpretable outputs; proactively root-causing data and performance issues to ensure strong business performance; building and improving dashboards, visualizations, and automations to scale analytics; establishing causal links between actions and outcomes through experimentation; bridging data insights with strategic implications for different business areas; and championing best practices, terminology, and documentation across Analytics and the broader organization.
The ideal candidate is intensely curious, holds themselves to a high analytical bar, and balances analytical rigor with speed and business impact. You will combine technical expertise with mastery of data-driven storytelling to improve business understanding and identify improvement opportunities.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of experience using analytical and statistical methods to drive critical business outcomes; a Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field; expert communication skills translating complex concepts into business vernacular; experience across multiple analytical domains; demonstrated success driving business strategy from an analytics lens; advanced SQL and business intelligence tool proficiency (Tableau, Mode, Looker, etc.); ETL experience with dbt and Snowflake; strong quantitative and problem-solving skills; bias for action balanced with risk awareness; and deep ownership mindset with natural curiosity about how systems work.
This is a hybrid role with expectations of 3 days per week on-site at the New York headquarters.
