As Senior Data Engineer, you will own the design and evolution of Super's event-driven data platform built on AWS and Snowflake. You'll architect and maintain the complete ingestion pipeline: events flow from product services through EventBridge, Kinesis Firehose, and S3, then auto-ingest into Snowflake via Snowpipe. Batch and third-party data lands through Snowpark-deployed Python procedures. All infrastructure is defined in Terraform/Terragrunt with CI/CD via GitHub Actions and observability through Datadog.
Key responsibilities include: building and tuning the EventBridge → Firehose → S3 → Snowpipe ingestion path as event volumes scale across fraud, payments, and merchant streams; designing Snowpark-based Python procedures for file and third-party data loads scheduled as Snowflake Tasks; managing upstream schema changes and late-arriving data without breaking downstream consumers; owning Terraform/Terragrunt modules across environments; designing Datadog monitors and alerting for pipeline health; managing PII handling, masking, and data governance; building privacy-first dbt pipelines and Snowflake Dynamic Tables; implementing data quality testing and monitoring; and collaborating with Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams to ensure audit-ready, accurate data delivery.
You should have hands-on experience with AWS streaming/event ingestion (Kinesis, EventBridge), S3 partitioning, and queue/DLQ patterns; strong Terraform skills (Terragrunt a plus); deep Snowflake expertise including Snowpipe, Tasks, and Snowpark; proven dbt experience building tested SQL and Python models; GitHub Actions and secrets/key management; Python coding for pipeline development (Poetry, Pydantic, pytest); and experience handling sensitive data and PII in data warehouses. This is a high-impact role owning critical infrastructure for a fast-growing fintech platform.
