You will be Teleport's first Data Engineer, responsible for designing and building the company's internal data platform from the ground up. This is a zero-to-one opportunity to architect the data infrastructure that powers decision-making across product, engineering, finance, and revenue teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building data pipelines that ingest data from diverse internal sources (product usage, production costs, budgets, sales) into a central warehouse
- Creating performant, well-documented data models and schemas that evolve with the company's analytical needs
- Implementing data quality checks and validation at every pipeline stage to catch issues early
- Managing sensitive data responsibly with proper access controls, redaction, and retention policies
- Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data needs and enable self-serve analytics
Required expertise: strong SQL and data modeling skills, extensive pipeline development experience in Python or Go, hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), and familiarity with orchestration tools. You should have a builder mentality, intellectual curiosity, and experience handling sensitive data securely.
Nice-to-have skills include Go proficiency, mathematics/statistics background, and knowledge of tools like Airflow or dbt.
