Front is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to architect and own critical components of its analytics infrastructure platform. The role involves designing scalable, reliable data pipelines and models that power decision-making across the organization, from product insights to go-to-market performance. Key responsibilities include architecting end-to-end data pipelines optimized for speed and robustness; automating manual processes and enabling self-service data consumption across teams; owning data quality and ensuring SLAs are met; designing schemas and optimizing queries for large, complex datasets; and interfacing with data scientists, analysts, and product stakeholders to understand requirements and promote best practices. You will manage data availability and security across multiple data centers and regions, implement comprehensive monitoring and logging frameworks for traceability and auditability, evaluate tools and technologies for optimal solutions, and manage data vendors. The role emphasizes AI fluency—using AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate development, improve quality, and unlock new approaches to data reliability and automation. Required qualifications include a BS/BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience); at least 5 years as a Data Engineer or in a role with deep ETL expertise; hands-on experience managing a Snowflake data warehouse; strong programming fundamentals with ability to write modular, maintainable code; advanced SQL and Python skills; working knowledge of at least one big data technology (HDFS, EMR, Redshift, Spark, Flink, or Presto); experience with workflow management tools (preferably Airflow); and a proactive, service-oriented mindset. Front is a customer operations platform built for B2B complexity, used by over 9,000 companies including Uber Freight, Navan, and Stripe. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital and Salesforce Ventures, has raised $204M, and operates on a hybrid model with office collaboration on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
