Beamery is a jobs, skills, and tasks data platform helping organizations navigate AI and automation in workforce management. The platform powers recruitment, mobility, upskilling, diversity, work architecture, and workforce planning for leading global companies.
You'll join as Staff Data Engineer, the most senior individual contributor role in data engineering. This is a strategic position owning the long-term technical direction of Beamery's data platform, which underpins both reporting and AI strategy.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the technical strategy and multi-quarter architectural vision for the data platform. Define investment cases with Engineering, Product, and Design leadership, and sequence delivery incrementally. Address challenges around multi-tenant consistency, correctness at scale, performance optimization, and data modeling for AI and agentic workloads.
- Architect the analytics, semantic, and AI data layers. Define how core business metrics, feature usage signals, and skills/task intelligence data are modeled, governed, and exposed as trustworthy products to BI, self-service, and AI consumers.
- Set architectural standards and patterns that scale across teams. Establish modeling conventions and data contracts that other teams adopt. Grow senior engineers into stronger technical decision-makers through design review, pairing, and mentorship.
- Own platform reliability and trust. Set approaches to observability, data quality, SLAs, and incident response. Lead root-cause analyses on critical failures and drive systemic fixes.
Required experience:
- Built and operated data platforms serving internal and external consumers
- Data warehousing, data lakes, real-time and batch processing architectures
- dbt for complex data transformations
- SQL/NoSQL schema design and multi-tenant isolation
- Back-end engineering (Python preferred; Typescript/Node.js a plus)
- Streaming pipelines, CDC, data correctness, and replayability
- Data quality, observability, validation, testing, data contracts, monitoring
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes)
Current stack: dbt, BigQuery, Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Typescript/Node.js, Kubernetes, Python, Segment. You'll shape technology choices as the company grows.
This role suits someone energized by ambiguity who measures impact by organizational capability rather than personal output. You'll work with minimal direction, explain tradeoffs credibly to executives, and lead cross-team initiatives without formal authority.
