Coinbase is seeking a Staff Applied Data Scientist to own pricing experimentation and strategy for its Consumer & Business products. In this role, you will lead end-to-end pricing initiatives, partnering directly with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Design teams to drive data-informed decisions that impact the company's bottom line.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing pricing experiments from conception through analysis and executive recommendation
- Building and refining pricing models and evaluation frameworks to determine optimal pricing strategies across consumer products
- Developing production-grade data pipelines and models that power pricing analytics
- Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to establish pricing vision, roadmap, and priorities
- Synthesizing complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership
You will bring 8+ years of data science experience with deep expertise in pricing experimentation, causal inference, and statistical modeling. A PhD or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is preferred. You must have 5+ years of direct experience leading pricing or experimentation workstreams, including A/B test design and predictive modeling.
Required technical skills include proficiency in SQL and Python or R for statistical modeling, pipeline development, and data analysis. You should have a proven track record of independently scoping and delivering complex analytical projects across multiple teams, from problem definition through executive presentation. Experience using generative AI responsibly to enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining human oversight is valued.
Coinbase is a remote-first company with quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intensive collaboration. The role offers competitive compensation with base salary ranging from $207,485 to $244,100 USD annually, plus equity and bonus eligibility.
