Rula, a Series C mental health and addiction treatment platform, is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to lead the design and execution of a company-wide data platform transformation. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will serve as the architectural leader and structural enforcer for Rula's data ecosystem, guiding domain engineers through a migration to Snowflake and Medallion architectures.
You will own multiple strategic dimensions: designing and executing the Snowflake migration roadmap with Medallion playbooks that enable domain pods to build reliably without disrupting delivery SLAs; acting as a technical bridge between engineering and business leadership to negotiate data contracts, establish intake guardrails, and push back on scope creep; profiling and optimizing Snowflake compute costs and warehouse performance globally to protect the balance sheet as clinical data volume scales; designing and enforcing automated CI/CD testing gates in GitHub to intercept query regressions, schema anomalies, and unoptimized code before merge; and driving organization-wide adoption of AI-assisted tools to multiply team velocity through prompt banks, AI code reviews, and automated boilerplate generation.
Required: 6+ years in analytics engineering, data architecture, or data engineering with proven systems-level impact on organization-wide data strategies and platform architecture. Experience leading architectural design, optimization, or migration of modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) across multiple business domains. Expert SQL proficiency and production experience with Medallion architectures. 2+ years hands-on dbt for production ELT pipelines. Deep expertise in production git workflows and automated CI/CD testing gates. Proven ability to bridge technical execution and business strategy, with strong judgment on risk, trade-offs, and intake negotiation.
Preferred: Track record scaling AI-assisted tool adoption; experience with headless BI semantic layers (Cube.dev) and AI agentic workflows (LibreChat); HIPAA-compliant data environments or EHR/digital health operations; advanced RBAC, hashing, and masking for sensitive clinical data; experience managing schema drift; basic Python for orchestration.
Rula is remote-first, hiring across most US states (excluding Hawaii). Full-time employees receive comprehensive health benefits, 401(k), generous time off including 2 company-wide shutdown weeks, paid parental leave, EAP, and quarterly team stipends.
