Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company founded in 2015, is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to own the Gold layer and enterprise semantic layer of its Databricks lakehouse platform. In this role, you will transform clean, governed Silver-layer data into trusted, business-ready models, KPIs, and semantic assets that drive decision-making across the organization.
You will translate approved business definitions into auditable transformation logic and build durable analytics models that can be used consistently across multiple domains. This is not purely a technical role—you must understand the business meaning of the data being modeled, the operational context behind key metrics, and the classification or usage constraints that affect how data can be exposed, joined, governed, and consumed in a regulated defense environment.

As a Staff-level individual contributor, you will guide the analytics engineering practice, mentor junior engineers, and establish best practices for data modeling and governance. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams to ensure that analytics infrastructure scales reliably and meets the company's regulatory and operational requirements.
