Salary: USD 65,000 - 81,000 / annual

As a Staff Accountant, you will be a key member of the accounting department, responsible for processing accounting transactions, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, compiling and analyzing financial reports, and providing ad hoc analysis. You will maintain the integrity of the general ledger and provide general accounting support to the accounting leadership team. The role requires a highly organized, accountable team player who operates with efficiency, urgency, and discipline.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare journal entries and underlying analysis to support the month-end close process
- Reconcile data from various sources and systems to the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including recording month-end accruals, prepaid amortizations, fixed asset transactions, expense reclasses, and adjusting journal entries
- Prepare deliverables to support financial statement preparation and respond to requests from business functions
- Investigate variances by preparing monthly balance sheet and P&L flux analyses with clear, insightful commentary
- Perform research for technical accounting purposes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers and ensure accurate financial results
- Compile analysis and reports for quarterly reviews, annual audits, tax return preparation, and other audits
- Prepare and assist with ad hoc analysis and analytics as needed
- Identify opportunities for AI and automation initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, month-end close processes, and financial analysis tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLookups, and pivot tables
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Public company experience at a national firm
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA designation (strongly preferred)
- Experience in a CPG or inventory-based business
- Experience with top-tier ERP and related reporting applications
- Experience with SOX and internal controls in a public company environment
