Salary: USD 80,000 - 100,000 / annual
AEVEX, a defense and aerospace company headquartered in Solana Beach, California, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team in Murrieta. The role involves performing full-cycle accounting activities and financial analysis with a focus on month-end close processes, reconciliations, and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing bank reconciliations and tracking weekly cash postings
- Executing month-end close duties including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintaining subledgers and amortization schedules
- Researching and resolving discrepancies in assigned account reconciliations
- Reconciling intercompany accounts and preparing monthly elimination entries
- Recording deposits and customer payments
- Monitoring accounting transactions for compliance with GAAP, DFARS, and company policy
- Supporting financial statement preparation and account fluctuation analysis
- Assisting with internal and external audits
- Contributing to the development and improvement of accounting policies, guidelines, and internal controls
- Creating ad hoc reports and analyzing data as needed
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline and 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience with emphasis on General Ledger. Required skills include working knowledge of GAAP, proficiency with ERP systems (Unanet, Deltek, or similar), and strong Microsoft Office capabilities. Government contracting or defense industry experience is a plus, as is familiarity with DFARS and BlackLine software.
This is a full-time, in-office position requiring U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
