Harness, an AI Software Delivery Platform company valued at $5.5B and backed by Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, and other leading investors, is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to lead revenue accounting operations. This role owns the complete monthly revenue close process under ASC 606, including contract review, standalone selling price (SSP) analysis, multi-element arrangement accounting, and revenue recognition disclosures. You will prepare and review all revenue journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses with clear audit trails, partnering closely with Deal Operations on contract review to assess revenue recognition implications before execution.
You will establish and maintain a strong internal controls environment over revenue, documenting SOX-ready policies, procedures, and control narratives. This includes leading coordination with external auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audits, owning PBC schedules, and providing comprehensive audit support. You will monitor and interpret new accounting guidance from FASB and SEC, assessing impact on revenue policies and ensuring compliance.
Process optimization is a key focus: you will identify and drive improvements to reduce close cycle time, eliminate manual work, and build scalable workflows. You will own revenue system integrity, working with Business Systems to ensure contracts and revenue data flow accurately into the GL (NetSuite or equivalent). You will build and maintain automated revenue schedules, reporting templates, and exception monitoring tools using Excel, Google Sheets, and AI tools like Claude.
Cross-functional partnership is essential. You will prepare executive-ready revenue reporting packages and variance analyses for finance leadership, acting as a trusted business partner to Deal Operations, Business Systems, FP&A, Legal, and Product teams. You will mentor and develop junior team members, setting clear standards for work quality and documentation.
Required: 4-6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience with demonstrated ASC 606 ownership in SaaS or software environments. You must have experience in both private and public companies (or public-ready/Big 4-audited settings), understanding the rigor and documentation standards required. Hands-on expertise with month-end close ownership and audit processes is essential, along with strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit coordination. You must demonstrate advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or comparable ERP/CRM systems, and hold a CPA license (active or inactive). Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required—you identify root causes, not just symptoms, and can translate complex technical accounting conclusions into clear business insights.
