Wave Mobile Money is building financial services across Sub-Saharan Africa to make the continent cashless. The company operates a mobile money platform in 9 countries with millions of users, enabling cash deposits, withdrawals, peer-to-peer payments, and business transactions. As a Fraud Analyst based in Abidjan, you will protect Wave's customers, agents, and business from fraud risk while maintaining service accessibility. You'll report to the Regional Risk Lead and work across multiple dimensions of fraud prevention and investigation. Key responsibilities include: - Conduct periodic fraud risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities in customer, agent, and staff security - Visit field locations regularly to understand local challenges and align fraud prevention with market expansion efforts - Investigate suspicious transactions and fraud cases, escalating issues and liaising with legal and local authorities - Monitor transactions, detect suspicious activity, and take corrective action - Perform data analysis on fraud patterns to support decision-making and provide dashboards for partner and statutory reporting - Develop fraud training materials based on risk exposure - Communicate fraud issues to stakeholders and customers - Manage agent relationships, including proactive outreach regarding commission changes with clear explanations You'll work from the Abidjan office with occasional field travel. The role requires a bachelor's degree in IT, Audit & Management Control, Business Administration, Finance, Criminology, or related field, plus at least 2 years of experience in financial sector investigation, fraud risk controls, and regulatory requirements. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
