Extreme Networks is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary hardware and software programs. This role sits at the intersection of hardware NPI (new product introduction), firmware/software development, cloud services, and manufacturing—requiring deep expertise in coordinating across Hardware Engineering, Firmware, Software (cloud, security, controller), QA, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Compliance teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end hardware NPI programs from design through manufacturing, QA, and general availability (GA)
- Coordinating concurrent software releases across multiple platforms with independent release cadences
- Establishing and maintaining program governance structures, decision-making frameworks, and executive steering committees
- Leading release-readiness meetings, program reviews, defect reviews, and cross-functional working sessions
- Managing milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical-path activities across multiple simultaneous programs
- Driving teams toward committed dates without direct management authority
- Communicating program status, risks, and recommendations to VP/SVP-level leadership
- Identifying program risks early, determining root causes, establishing mitigation action plans, and escalating appropriately
- Managing programs with resource support across multiple time zones
- Using AI tools and Jira to generate reports, analyze program data, monitor metrics, and identify trends
This is a fast-moving environment with multiple simultaneous releases and changing priorities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to operate effectively under pressure, recognize when programs are at risk, and drive resolution across organizational boundaries.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Project Management, or Engineering Program Management in technology organizations
- Demonstrated experience managing complex hardware NPI programs (design through manufacturing, QA, GA)
- Demonstrated experience managing concurrent software releases across multiple platforms with independent release cadences
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (development, integration, QA, defect management, release readiness, GA)
- Strong understanding of hardware NPI lifecycle (design, manufacturing, BOM, image readiness, production ramp, GA)
- Experience coordinating programs involving Hardware Engineering, Firmware Development, Software teams (cloud, security, controller), QA, Product Management, Manufacturing, Compliance, and other cross-functional organizations
- Strong experience managing milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical-path activities across multiple concurrent programs
- Demonstrated ability to drive teams toward committed dates without direct management authority
- Experience leading release-readiness meetings, program reviews, defect reviews, and cross-functional working sessions
- Executive communication experience – ability to present program status, risks, and recommendations to VP/SVP-level leadership
- Program governance experience – ability to establish program decision-making structures and executive steering committees
- Strong Jira experience including epics, features, defects, dashboards, queries, and program tracking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to recognize when a program is at risk, determine underlying cause, establish action plan, and escalate appropriately
- Risk management experience – ability to identify, assess, prioritize, and track mitigation of program risks
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving environment with multiple simultaneous releases and changing priorities
- Experience managing programs with resource support across multiple time zones
- Ability to use various AI tools to generate reports, analyze program data, monitor program metrics, and identify trends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in networking, enterprise infrastructure, cloud-managed platforms, or telecommunications
- Experience managing programs that combine hardware, firmware/software, cloud services, and management/control applications
- Experience with hardware NPI including manufacturing readiness, BOM management, software-image readiness, and ODM/OEM partner coordination
- Familiarity with international product compliance processes (FCC, CE, country-specific certifications)
- Familiarity with government or regulated-industry customer procurement processes and approval workflows
- Experience managing cloud platform deployments, controller-based software releases, and private infrastructure configurations
- Experience managing programs with international customer bases and multi-time zone coordination
- Proficiency with AI-driven program management and analytics tools for reporting and monitoring
- PMP, PgMP, Agile/Scrum, or comparable project/program management certification
