Monday.com is seeking a Design Operations Lead to support its 80+ person design guild across Tel Aviv and London. This role sits within PD AI Foundations and owns the operating systems, tooling, and enablement programs that allow designers to focus on craft rather than process friction.
You will own four core areas:
1. Operating Backbone: Manage tooling, licenses, procurement, vendors, contracts, budget, travel, and designer onboarding. Automate repetitive tasks, plan ahead, document progress, keep teams informed, and resolve blockers early. Maintain an active operational view for leadership.
2. Agents and AI Integration: Identify problems, gaps, and repetitive work in design processes. Build agents, automations, or tools to address them. Run enablement programs (access, learning tracks, office hours, champions, showcases) to normalize working with AI across the guild. Measure adoption and impact.
3. Proactive Problem-Finding: Talk directly with designers to surface issues before they escalate. Develop solutions that are already in motion.
4. Sustained Change: Ensure new ways of working stick beyond launch. Define and measure program impact qualitatively and quantitatively. Track who works differently, who understands why, and who has the skills to continue.
5. Multi-Site Coordination: Grow each site's ownership and rituals while maintaining guild-wide consistency across Tel Aviv and London.
You'll work daily with design directors, guild track owners, and designers, plus cross-functional partners in Product Operations, Engineering, Product Management, IT, Legal, Finance, Security, and People. This is an influence-without-authority role: nobody reports to you, but you drive alignment and execution through clarity, evidence, and trust.
Success means friction disappears before escalation, automations are used by others without reminders, new practices persist three months later, ambiguity becomes action, cross-functional approvals move smoothly, the operating layer runs without you present, and leadership has clear visibility into guild operations.
Requirements:
- Design or creative operations experience at team or org scale, ideally across multiple sites, with proven ability to run operating backbones, build and ship automations, and drive lasting change.
- Strong people skills; approachable and comfortable with operational and HR aspects. Designers bring you problems and wins because you listen.
- Hands-on building and automation: workflow automation platforms, AI agents, scripting, low-code tooling, or AI coding tools. You ship working things.
- Proven adoption track record: you've introduced change, driven lasting shifts in how people work, measured results, and learned from efforts that didn't stick.
- Influence without authority: you align directors, partner teams, and designers through clear problems, evidence, and trust.
- Root-cause diagnosis: you talk to people doing the work, not relying on secondhand summaries.
- Cross-level stakeholder alignment: you turn vague senior asks into specific, agreed outcomes, including pushing back when the named problem isn't the one worth solving.
- Organizational judgment: you navigate procurement, vendors, contracts, security reviews, legal, HR, and budget cycles. You know when to work the process, find another route, or escalate with a recommendation.
- Just-enough process: you add structure where needed and remove what slows people down.
- Self-direction: you operate without oversight and surface status proactively.
- Design judgment: you recognize excellent work and support teams pushing on UI, UX, interaction, and motion (you don't need to be a designer).
- Clear written English: you write plans, updates, and docs people actually read.
Nice to have:
- Design systems experience and understanding of how they scale.
- Background in design, research, product, or program management.
- Comfort pulling and analyzing data to validate whether initiatives are working.
