Salary: USD 153,000 - 180,000 / annual

Mainspring Energy manufactures fuel-flexible, low-emissions local power solutions for utility-scale and data center applications. The company has shipped hundreds of megawatts of its Linear Generators since 2020 and partners with Fortune 500 companies, utilities, and energy leaders. As Sr. Manager, Business Development & Commercial Analytics, you will drive new business development opportunities and provide commercial analytical support across utility and data center verticals. You'll work cross-functionally with business development, sales, finance, product, growth, and marketing teams to develop robust customer solutions. Key responsibilities include: identifying and advancing business development opportunities with IOUs in California and western states; supporting due diligence requests and modeling proformas; conducting location-based economic analysis; developing market forward views; meeting with customers; and refining product and lifecycle services. You will lead commercial analysis for complex customer opportunities, translating technical, financial, and market data into actionable recommendations for internal and executive customer teams. You'll develop and maintain sophisticated project proformas, financial models, and commercial evaluation tools. You'll leverage analytical tools to generate new business development opportunities, collaborate on competitive analysis and positioning, and present customer-tailored projections. Additionally, you'll provide technical leadership and mentorship on modeling, energy economics, and financial analysis across cross-functional teams, establishing scalable analytical standards and best practices. Required qualifications: 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in commercial analytics, business development, strategy, project finance, or energy economics within distributed energy, utilities, clean technology, energy software, or management consulting. 5+ years of business development experience in the energy sector. MA/MS in economics, engineering, energy, or MBA. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in financial modeling and energy markets. Knowledge of Energy Tool Base, macros, financial modeling, and rate analysis. Experience discussing project finance concepts (IRR, NPV, pre-tax vs. after-tax). Must live in the Bay Area and work in Menlo Park or San Francisco offices at least three days per week. Ability to travel on short notice.
