Salary: USD 196,500 - 291,500 / annual
PayPal is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the foundation model pillar of its Risk Decisioning Platform—a shared ML infrastructure layer that generates behavioral embeddings consumed by downstream risk models across fraud, credit, and compliance towers. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy and machine learning infrastructure, requiring deep ownership of a transformer-based model platform processing transaction and behavioral sequences at scale.
You will define training and retraining strategy for foundation models, establish and manage the contract between foundation model outputs and downstream consumers, and own the cascading impact when the foundation layer changes. Working backwards from measurable outcomes, you'll collaborate with engineering, data science, and risk strategy teams to prove value through faster downstream model deployment and reduced time-to-market for new threat response capabilities.
Key responsibilities include: gathering customer insights and market analysis to inform product requirements; monitoring product profitability and budget; leading sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives; partnering with content developers, data scientists, designers, and UX researchers to identify new opportunities; and interfacing with product and technology leadership on strategic decisions.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of relevant PM experience and ideally has owned or co-owned a foundation model, large-scale embedding model, or transformer-based model platform in production. Experience with model governance in regulated environments and data/feature engineering pipelines is highly valued. You'll work in a hybrid model (3 days in-office, 2 days flexible) at one of three locations: San Jose, Chicago, or Austin.
