Salary: USD 100,000 - 120,000 / annual

The Zebra, an online insurance marketplace founded in 2012, is seeking a Senior HR Information Systems Analyst to serve as the technical owner and architect of their People systems ecosystem. This role is structured like a systems engineering position, requiring deep expertise in HRIS configuration, data integrity, and workflow automation. You will own the design and continuous improvement of all People Ops workflows including onboarding, offboarding, job and compensation changes, leave management, benefits events, payroll, compliance reporting, recruiting, and support intake. You'll translate functional requirements into robust architecture that withstands audit and edge cases, with comprehensive design documentation and process mapping. Key responsibilities include: - Serving as technical SME for the HR systems stack, designing workflows that minimize manual intervention - Defining requirements and driving design for the Jira intake framework in partnership with IT - Applying AI and automation to eliminate manual touches through self-service flows, document generation, data validation, and intelligent ticket classification - Owning the integration layer between HR tools, business systems, and external vendors; building and troubleshooting APIs and file-based integrations - Ensuring HR data integrity through complete audits, exception reporting, and establishing a clear source of truth for every field - Understanding the HR regulatory landscape to spot exposure and design appropriate controls, permissions, and audit trails for SOC 2, 401(k), and internal reviews - Running implementations, upgrades, and redesigns as formal projects with clear scoping, sequencing, communication, and documentation The role offers flexibility: headquarters in Austin with options for in-office, hybrid, or fully remote work across the US (excluding California and Massachusetts). REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of related experience with Bachelor's degree; OR 3+ years with Master's degree; OR equivalent work experience - Deep hands-on HR information systems configuration and administration experience (must have owned a system, not just used one) - Ability to listen to problems and recommend and implement solutions - Demonstrated ability to work across multiple department teams - Proven system configuration capability for functional domains - Working fluency with integrations and APIs - Required: Atlassian/Jira proficiency including building and administering projects, request types, workflows, automation rules, and reporting - Strong process design capability: mapping current state, identifying failure points, redesigning for minimal intervention - Practical experience using AI/automation tools with judgment about appropriate applications - Advanced data skills: Excel/Sheets at high level, comfort with reporting tools, ability to reconcile and validate data at scale - Exceptional precision and follow-through - Clear written communication with documentation discipline EXPERIENCE THAT WILL IMPRESS: - Paylocity and/or Ashby experience - Formal project management experience - Scripting or query capability (SQL, Python, JavaScript) or iPaaS/low-code platforms (Workato, Zapier, Make, Power Automate) - Experience building custom MCPs for AI integration - Prior experience standing up or reconfiguring service delivery or ticketing models for HR or internal operations teams - Experience in high-growth or multi-state environments
