Salary: USD 160,000 - 266,600 / annual
Rubrik's Legal Team is seeking a Senior AI Counsel to guide the company's responsible adoption and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies. This role sits at the intersection of legal compliance, product strategy, and engineering, addressing the complex regulatory and contractual landscape created by advances in AI, machine learning, and generative AI.
You will drive improvements in Rubrik's AI governance framework, ensuring that internal AI tool adoption and AI-powered product features comply with evolving regulations (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF), meet contractual obligations, and align with security and privacy requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring AI compliance across regulations, contracts, and security standards
- Enabling safe adoption of AI tools internally and in customer-facing products
- Drafting and negotiating AI-specific terms in vendor and customer contracts
- Coordinating review processes for generative AI and advanced AI technologies
- Educating employees on AI legal and compliance issues
- Continuously improving AI review processes for effectiveness and efficiency
You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Information Security, and cross-functional Legal teams. The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney with 5+ years of in-house legal experience at a technology company, deep familiarity with AI concepts (LLMs, machine learning, NLP, RAG, AI agents), and expertise in data privacy, customer contracts, vendor procurement, copyright law, or product compliance. You should be comfortable with technical details, pragmatic in problem-solving, and able to move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
