NovoEd is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Finance team in a hands-on individual-contributor role. This position offers meaningful impact in a high-growth environment and reports to the Finance Manager.
Key responsibilities include owning monthly and quarterly close processes (accounts receivable/payable, payroll, fixed assets, prepaids, cash management, bank reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries). You will prepare and process semi-monthly payroll, maintain employee records in the payroll system, and reconcile payroll-related GL accounts. The role involves creating and sending customer invoices, collecting payments, and meeting regularly with the Finance Manager to discuss past-due invoices.
You will support tax and compliance filings including sales tax, 1099 reporting, and benefits compliance testing. You'll prepare audit schedules and provide audit support, document and maintain accounting policies and internal controls, and identify opportunities to implement process improvements that scale and automate manual procedures. You will prepare monthly reporting packages and variance analysis for management presentation.
Additional duties include assisting in customer contract reviews for revenue recognition treatment (ASC 606), administering systems such as Ramp, TriNet, Fidelity, and Egencia, and serving as a resource to Finance partners on special projects and analyses.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field; 3-5 years of accounting experience including general ledger, AP/accruals, and month-end close; strong GAAP knowledge including ASC 606; highly organized and detail-oriented; advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; excellent communication. Preferred: CPA (active or pursuing licensure), public accounting experience, payroll processing experience, and familiarity with Rillet, Ramp, Box/Dropbox, TriNet, or QBO.
