Xona Space Systems is seeking an analytical and self-driven GNSS Specialist to join the Product team. The role focuses on developing navigational intelligence through Pulsar, an advanced satellite-based positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system in Low Earth Orbit (LEO-PNT).
Key responsibilities include conducting deep-dive analyses on cutting-edge timing and positioning systems, participating in analytical and theoretical studies on LEO-PNT applications ranging from critical infrastructure synchronization to high-precision positioning. You will prepare technical resources and materials including white papers, internal reports, and detailed technical documentation on GNSS research topics. Additionally, you will collaborate with business teams on customer-facing technical demonstrations, including feasibility studies, test plan development, field trial execution, and rigorous technical reporting.
The ideal candidate possesses solid expertise in GNSS receiver design, including measurement chain development and positioning engine architecture. You thrive in dynamic research environments where technical priorities shift rapidly, demonstrate initiative in solving complex technical problems, and have hands-on experience with GNSS test equipment and signal validation in laboratory settings. You work effectively within teams while contributing to cutting-edge solutions, communicate clearly through technical reports and presentations, and understand project management principles.
Required qualifications include a Master's or PhD in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, geomatics engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field, with at least 2 years of GNSS domain experience. You must have theoretical analysis experience with GNSS system performance in various environments using Python, C, C++, or MATLAB, and availability for urgent technical evaluations with tight timelines.
Desirable experience includes technical writing and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders, GNSS timing synchronization and UTC traceability systems, high-precision GNSS correction modeling and application, multipath characterization and mitigation techniques, demonstrated ability to independently lead targeted research projects, strong project management and collaboration skills, hardware testing including field trials and GNSS simulator use, and practical Linux operating system experience.
Note: The successful candidate must be eligible for and maintain a Reliability-level security clearance and satisfy Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and U.S. ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) security evaluation requirements.
