Fleek is building AI-native infrastructure for the global secondhand fashion trade, having saved 9 million items from landfill since 2022. The company operates a B2B marketplace and FleekSort, an AI model that grades, prices and categorizes secondhand items from photos, transforming a historically manual and opaque trade into a structured, searchable global inventory layer. Backed by a16z, Y Combinator, and HV Capital, Fleek serves thousands of resellers and retailers across the UK, Europe, and the US.
As Special Projects Lead, you will take Fleek's new category bets from thesis to proven economics. Each bet represents a new business line with potential to add £5M+ in GMV, either opening a new supply category or sourcing geography. Unlike typical marketplace launches, Fleek already owns the demand side—most live bets sell to buyers already transacting on Fleek, making this a supply-first test rather than a two-sided cold start.
Your core responsibilities include: running bets through defined gates (market research → first suppliers → first GMV → feasibility decision), traveling to visit suppliers and rag houses in target markets, onboarding brands and wholesalers while converting existing Fleek buyers to new inventory, making kill/double-down calls based on unit economics and competitive landscape, handling operational functions like importer-of-record structures and logistics, and leveraging Fleek's agentic outreach and enrichment engine rather than building from scratch.
You'll work directly with founders and the commercial lead, close to the company's center. This is a venture-builder role inside Fleek—if a bet succeeds and you're running it well, you scale into owning the category with supply, acquisition, and ops teams building under you.
Ideal candidates are zero-to-one operators (founders, early employees, or internal line starters) who combine operator and commercial skills, are comfortable being measured on GMV within the first quarter, and have AI fluency. Strong signals include instinct for physical goods, experience structuring novel deals, and exposure to cross-border trade or supply chain operations. Direct resale/surplus experience, new market launch experience, and international sourcing networks are valuable but not required.
