Tapcart is the mobile commerce engine powering shopping for Shopify's fastest-growing brands, processing $15B+ in revenue and serving 200M+ shoppers globally. Brands like Princess Polly, Béis, Forever 21, and Young LA rely on the platform. The company is backed by Shopify and Silver Lake, is profitable, and operates as a lean team with minimal management and high autonomy.
As Solutions Engineer, Sales & Partnerships, you will be the technical voice bridging sales, product, and developer partners. You'll partner with Account Executives as the technical lead on prospect and expansion deals, scoping native versus custom capabilities and giving buyers confidence to sign. You'll run technical discovery on brand stacks (Shopify plan, headless, subscription, loyalty, CDP, ESP) and translate findings into clear launch paths.
You own the external developer and agency partner onboarding process end-to-end: documentation, environment setup, sandbox access, and rules of engagement. You'll author integration specs, review partner deliverables against them, and unblock developers during builds. You feed recurring partner and customer needs back to Product as structured roadmap input.
You'll be a true owner from first technical call to shipped integration, working side-by-side with Sales, Product, and partner developers while staying close to merchants to deliver value early and iterate quickly. The role requires comfort moving between technical and non-technical audiences, building processes from scratch, and using AI tools daily to work faster.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or partner/developer-facing technical role (ecommerce, SaaS, or Shopify ecosystem strongly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of web and mobile commerce architecture: APIs, webhooks, data integrations, and understanding of what's configurable versus what requires custom development
- Ability to scope ambiguous asks into clear specs and communicate "yes, here's how," "yes, but," or "not yet" with equal clarity
- Bonus: hands-on Shopify experience (Liquid, Storefront/Admin APIs), agency-side background, or front-end/mobile development experience
- Must use AI tools daily to work faster and smarter
- Must hold your own with both CMOs and developers, delivering real answers to both audiences
