Skydio is the world leader in autonomous flight technology for drones, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. As Solutions Engineer for Japan, you will be the technical bridge between Skydio's product and sales teams, working directly with large enterprise clients to understand their needs, design tailored demonstrations, and support successful deployments of autonomous drone solutions.
You will report to the Country Manager for Japan and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales teams. Your responsibilities include:
- Conduct deep discovery of customer needs and success metrics, designing compelling product demonstrations and field trials tailored to each client's use case
- Independently manage all aspects of system demonstrations: equipment setup, operation, troubleshooting, and technical presentation to customers and partners
- Lead system validation and customer implementation processes through successful deployment
- Contribute to RFI/RFP responses and technical documentation
- Serve as the voice of the customer internally, influencing product development and engineering strategy based on field feedback
- Support go-to-market strategies and business activities as assigned
This is an office-based role in Tokyo with 50–75% travel required to support customer engagements, field activities, deployments, and company events.
Requirements:
- Solid technical background in professional drone applications, radio systems, networks, software, security, prototyping, and electronics
- Good understanding of small uncrewed aircraft regulatory landscape
- Relevant experience in Defense, electrical utilities, architecture/engineering/construction (AEC), or similar industries
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, adaptable to diverse audiences
- Proven track record implementing new technologies for diverse clients and collaborating with technical teams to meet project timelines
- Minimum 2 years of experience and Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent education and professional experience)
- Native Japanese speaker
- Ability to read and write English; communication required
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time
- Japan drone certification a plus (二等無人航空機操縦士)
