Second Front Systems is a venture-backed defense-tech company founded by Marines to accelerate access to emerging technologies for the U.S. and allied governments. The company helps commercial software vendors navigate government acquisition and obtain critical security authorizations (FedRAMP High, DoD IL2–IL6/JWICS, GovRAMP, UK MOD, NATO).
You will serve as a technically credible Solutions Engineer for the EMEA region, owning the technical sales path from discovery through close. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, mission, and government customers—translating technical architecture decisions into deployable, warfighter-ready capabilities while managing customer accreditation and deployment timelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own technical discovery and qualification for EMEA opportunities, assessing application, infrastructure, security, integration, and deployment fit across complex enterprise environments.
- Develop proposed architectures covering cloud, networking, identity, integrations, data residency, sovereignty, and security constraints tailored to each customer.
- Deliver demonstrations, run proofs of value, and facilitate non-production evaluations for software vendors, defense-tech companies, regulated enterprises, and government customers.
- Identify technical blockers, dependencies, product gaps, and delivery assumptions before commitments, coordinating with Platform Engineering on feasibility.
- Support technical RFI/RFP, security, partner, and architecture responses; represent Second Front at customer workshops and technical events.
- Build reusable demos, reference architectures, and discovery materials; maintain clear technical notes on active opportunities.
- Feed field requirements back to Product and Engineering; deliver clean technical handoffs to implementation and delivery teams post-close.
- Partner with the commercial team and Head of EMEA through qualification, proposal, and procurement, supporting negotiation on technical matters.
- Translate customer accreditation and security requirements into realistic deployment schedules, resolving conflicts between engineering timelines and customer go-live dates.
- Align engineering roadmap priorities with regional customer needs and accreditation windows (NATO, UK MOD, sovereign/government certification frameworks).
- Broker resolution of technical-feasibility and resource-allocation conflicts between Product/Platform Engineering and customer security officers.
You will build technical relationships with hyperscalers, cloud providers, primes, and systems integrators, and support partner enablement. This is a full-time remote position based in the EU with willingness to travel across EMEA expected.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in a technical customer-facing role (solutions engineering, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical pre-sales).
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and strong cloud infrastructure knowledge.
- Hands-on familiarity with containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, networking, IAM, and APIs.
- Working ability with scripting or software development, sufficient to troubleshoot integrations, applications, and cloud environments.
- Ability to develop credible technical designs without creating unsupported bespoke commitments.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across application and infrastructure layers during evaluations.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication, working effectively with engineers, security teams, architects, procurement stakeholders, and government customers.
- Fluent English, existing work authorization (residency-based) in your EU country of employment, and willingness to travel across EMEA.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in defense, govtech, or another regulated industry, particularly with sovereign cloud, GovCloud, or classified/accredited environments.
- Familiarity with government or allied accreditation and certification frameworks (NATO, UK MOD, FedRAMP, GovRAMP, CRA, NIS-2, C5, or national equivalents).
- Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Fluency in an additional European language relevant to a priority EMEA market.
- Experience supporting partner/channel enablement with hyperscalers, primes, or systems integrators.
