Coval is a simulation and evaluation platform for voice AI agents. The company helps enterprises test and validate voice agents at scale before production deployment, addressing a critical gap in the market where most teams lack evaluation infrastructure. As Solutions Engineer, you will be the technical partner embedded in every customer deal. You will lead technical discovery sessions with prospects to understand their agent architecture (STT, LLM, TTS, telephony, orchestration frameworks) and identify testing and quality gaps. You will deliver tailored product demos that connect Coval's Simulate, Observe, and Human Review capabilities to each customer's specific use case. Key responsibilities include scoping, building, and running proofs of concept—setting up simulations, designing test scenarios and personas, defining evaluation metrics, and presenting results to stakeholders. You will integrate Coval with customer technology stacks via APIs, SDKs, and partner platforms (voice infrastructure, agent-building platforms). You will answer technical questionnaires on security and architecture during sales cycles. You will gather structured product feedback from the field and bring it to engineering and product teams to help prioritize the roadmap. You will build reusable assets including demo environments, POC playbooks, sample evaluation suites, technical documentation, and integration guides. You will support partner and co-sell motions by providing technical enablement to partner teams and represent Coval at conferences, workshops, and customer events. Coval is a nine-person, YC-backed startup closing six-figure enterprise deals with Fortune 500 companies and growing revenue 10x year-over-year. The team includes leaders from Waymo, Zoox, Apple, and Google. The company operates in-person in SoMa, San Francisco, with a culture described as "wholesome and unhinged"—relentless about execution but not taking themselves too seriously. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (solutions engineer, sales engineer, forward-deployed engineer, technical account manager) OR software engineer background with strong customer engagement experience - Hands-on coding ability in Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and debugging integrations - Working knowledge of LLMs and how AI applications are built: prompting, tool calling, evaluation, and common failure modes - Clear communicator able to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers and business value to executives - Track record of running POCs or technical evaluations that led to closed deals - Experience selling to enterprise buyers, including security reviews and procurement processes - Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch at early-stage startups - US citizen or visa holder NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with voice AI: speech-to-text, text-to-speech, real-time audio, latency optimization, or telephony (SIP, WebRTC, contact center platforms) - Familiarity with voice agent frameworks and platforms (Pipecat, LiveKit, Vapi, Retell) or major contact-center vendors - Background in QA, test automation, ML evaluation, or observability tooling
