SkySpecs is a fast-growing renewable energy technology company that helps utility-scale wind and solar operators optimize asset performance through inspections, data analytics, and SaaS products. The company is expanding into the solar market and seeking a Solar Solutions Design Manager to serve as the in-house subject-matter expert bridging Sales, Solutions, Product, Operations, and Customer Success.
In this role, you will own the customer-facing technical strategy for solar solutions. Key responsibilities include:
**Customer Discovery & Solution Design**: Join discovery and qualification calls as a solar SME to uncover technical, operational, and commercial needs. Shape solution proposals, scopes of work, and implementation plans aligned with real-world solar inspection and asset-management workflows. Develop customer pricing models and lead technical product demos for prospects.
**Onboarding & Service Delivery**: Support customer onboarding and implementation alongside Customer Success. Advise on inspection workflows, data handover, reporting, and ongoing operations. Partner with Delivery and Operations teams to troubleshoot issues and refine workflows. Lead data hand-off calls communicating inspection results and actionable findings.
**Product & Operations Translation**: Convert customer problems into clear product requirements and operational processes. Identify gaps in current offerings and propose pragmatic improvements. Partner with Product and Operations to validate assumptions and prioritize enhancements.
**Enablement & Documentation**: Develop solar discovery frameworks, qualification criteria, and templates. Build a customer use-case library capturing workflows and pain points. Document implementation workflows for internal teams and customers. Produce sales enablement materials including positioning guides, talk tracks, battlecards, and training content.
**Required Qualifications**: Deep technical understanding of utility-scale solar asset management and field operations (wind experience a bonus). Direct experience working with solar customers (developers, IPPs, asset owners, O&M providers) in solution/software sales or technical customer-facing roles. Hands-on exposure to onboarding, implementation, or service delivery for solar technology or software solutions. Strong ability to translate customer workflows into structured requirements. Comfortable leading customer calls and serving as a credible SME. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The role is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan with remote flexibility for US-based candidates. Remote applicants must be available for US Eastern timezone meetings. No visa sponsorship available.
