Ramp is building intelligent financial infrastructure for enterprise companies, automating how over $200B in annualized spend flows through 70,000+ organizations. The company handles payment authorization, risk flagging, spend categorization, and financial close processes at scale.
As a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed, you'll join the Core FDE (Forward Deployed Engineering) organization—an agent-first, customer-facing engineering team solving the most complex problems for Ramp's largest enterprise customers. This role combines product engineering with direct customer engagement, requiring you to understand pain points, shape product decisions, and build autonomous agents that expand Ramp's capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering end-to-end software solutions that address the needs of enterprise customers, from understanding requirements through scoping specs and building production agents
- Collaborating directly with Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, and Account Management to close deals, activate customers, and expand value over time
- Driving the core product engineering roadmap by specializing in a product area, developing deep domain expertise, and making prioritization decisions between custom solutions and broader platform initiatives
You'll work in a high-pace environment where everyone owns problems end-to-end and makes consequential decisions. The median Ramp customer saves 5% on costs and grows revenue 16% in their first year.
Required qualifications: 3+ years of software engineering experience, extensive experience building with and for AI agents, track record of shipping high-quality products at scale, comfort being customer-facing, and desire to work in a fast-paced environment while continuously growing your craft.
