As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll own critical backend systems end-to-end, working across product, platform, and machine learning infrastructure. You'll design and build services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure powering all product surfaces. Key responsibilities include designing and owning backend systems end-to-end; solving complex technical challenges in distributed systems, scaling, concurrency, and performance; integrating and operating large generative AI models in production; instrumenting and experimenting in production to improve system and product quality; and designing core platform infrastructure including third-party integrations, storage, security, and internal APIs.
You'll partner closely with product, design, client, and AI teams to turn ambitious ideas into reliable, scalable production systems. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems while staying connected to product and user outcomes.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of professional industry experience; track record of shipping high-impact systems and/or products in production; exceptional problem-solving fundamentals and ability to learn; excellent engineering taste combined with strong practicality and time management; ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and scope/deliver projects end-to-end.
Preferred: extensive experience with LLMs and generative media models; collaborative and grounded approach; startup founder or early-stage startup engineering experience.
