Kin Insurance is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join small, collaborative teams building products that power their condo insurance platform. You'll work in a Ruby on Rails environment with TypeScript frontend and PostgreSQL, applying Agile methodologies to deliver features end-to-end.
In this role, you'll write clean, maintainable code in Ruby; deliver stories and features from conception through production; pair program with teammates; participate in daily standups and retrospectives; and collaborate across product, design, and other functions. You'll provide technical expertise and support as the team scales.
You should have a track record of shipping small-to-medium software projects, proficiency in Ruby, JavaScript, or TypeScript, and comfort thriving in a fast-paced startup environment. You're a self-motivated learner who brings prior knowledge while staying curious and adaptable. Strong preference for Central or Eastern time zones.
Kin is remote-first with offices in Chicago and St. Petersburg where teams collaborate in person.
