ServiceNow is seeking a Software Engineer to join its platform team in Hyderabad. This role focuses on building high-quality, scalable, and reusable code while contributing to AI-powered capabilities across the ServiceNow platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement new products and features while enhancing the existing product suite
- Build clean, maintainable code following best practices in architecture, code reviews, and unit testing
- Integrate with third-party SaaS platforms and identity providers (OAuth 2.0, SAML, SCIM), managing authentication, rate limits, pagination, and error recovery
- Contribute to AI-powered product capabilities
- Write comprehensive automated tests (unit and integration) with strong test coverage
- Debug and resolve product defects with clear root-cause analysis
- Partner with product managers, UX, and documentation teams to clarify requirements and surface risks early
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge-sharing across the team
Required qualifications:
- 3–5 years of professional software development experience shipping production software
- Strong programming fundamentals in Java or comparable OO language, plus solid JavaScript/TypeScript
- Practical front-end experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
- Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, schema design, indexing, and query performance
- Experience designing and consuming web services (SOAP and REST APIs)
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
- AI fluency: experience leveraging AI in work processes, comfort with AI coding assistants (Claude, Cursor, Copilot), and awareness of production AI constraints (hallucination handling, evaluation, guardrails, token cost, data privacy)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in Agile/Scrum environments
Nice-to-have skills include ServiceNow platform experience (Glide, Flow Designer, scoped applications), ITAM/SAM or SaaS management domain knowledge, and cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP).
