F5 is building a distributed cloud services platform (XC) to support large-scale, high-performance, and highly available services across multi-cloud environments. The Control Plane Team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the development and lifecycle of a multi-cloud distributed platform, primarily within AWS, leveraging Kubernetes for orchestration.
In this role, you will take ownership of software components, ensuring delivery of complete solutions that meet functional, scalability, performance, and manageability requirements. You'll write hands-on code in multiple languages (Go and C++ primary focus) with emphasis on performance, scalability, maintainability, and flexibility. Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining applications in distributed cloud environments, deploying workloads on AWS and GCP, and managing their lifecycle.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams for end-to-end feature development, taking ownership and accountability. You'll investigate and resolve test pipeline failures in GitLab CI/CD environments, participate in defining new software architectures, products, and solutions, and write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices.
Required qualifications include proven experience with cloud technologies (AWS and Kubernetes), solid understanding of API-driven product development, and proficiency in Go and C++. You should have hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture in cloud environments, plus excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with metrics collection, observability frameworks, telemetry pipelines, and building systems with strong monitoring, alerting, and tracing capabilities (Prometheus, Grafana, Telemetry).
