UFORCE is a defence-technology company founded in Ukraine and headquartered in London, building uncrewed vessels, ground robotics, aircraft, autonomy software, and command-and-control systems. The company operates across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
You will join as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to build and operate the cloud infrastructure platform supporting sovereign mission operations teams. Your focus will be on making it safer and easier to deploy, upgrade, and run UFORCE services in on-premises environments, including sites with limited or no internet connectivity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and improve deployment and maintenance automation for on-premises environments using infrastructure as code, packaging, environment validation, and preflight checks.
- Ensure releases and upgrades work reliably in offline or restricted-network settings by managing artifacts, versioning, validation gates, and staged rollout/rollback procedures.
- Develop repeatable deployment patterns for VM-based, Kubernetes-based, and mixed environments with clear documentation for handling deviations.
- Establish observability baselines for constrained environments with useful metrics, logs, alerts, dashboards, and actionable alerts linked to runbooks.
- Define and operationalize service-level objectives and change-safety practices including smoke tests, rollout checks, and rollback-first procedures.
- Respond to incidents across deployed environments, coordinate diagnosis and communication, and turn lessons learned into improvements.
- Create and maintain operational playbooks, troubleshooting guides, escalation paths, and maintenance workflows for customer IT and partner operations teams.
- Partner with engineering and security teams to identify operational risks early and ensure new capabilities are deployment-ready.
- Coach teammates on practical reliability habits including debugging, alert quality, incident follow-through, and documentation.
Success metrics include: standard environment setup becoming faster and repeatable (common footprints in under a day), upgrade/rollback procedures validated and executable by partner teams with minimal SRE support, new deployments with usable dashboards and actionable alerts, and customer/partner teams resolving routine issues independently.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Significant hands-on experience operating production infrastructure or services in SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering.
- Experience building and maintaining infrastructure as code with Terraform or comparable tools, including safe testing and application practices.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, virtual-machine platforms, or both; understanding of deployment and upgrade challenges in constrained environments.
- Experience designing or operating observability systems for metrics, logs, alerts, and dashboards, including environments that cannot rely on SaaS services.
- Ability to design safe release, upgrade, and rollback workflows and make them usable through clear operational documentation.
- Strong incident-response skills: investigating ambiguous symptoms, prioritizing checks, coordinating with stakeholders, and following through on corrective actions.
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially explaining technical risks, procedures, and trade-offs to engineering and operations partners.
- Practical, ownership-oriented approach to reliability with focus on system improvement and closing the loop from incident to prevention.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with air-gapped, on-premises, or strongly segmented enterprise or defense environments.
- Experience supporting deployments operated by customer IT teams, third-party operations teams, or managed service providers.
- Familiarity with enterprise identity integrations (Active Directory, LDAP, SSO) and secrets management/auditability.
- Experience defining service-level objectives and improving reliability through incident reviews and measurable follow-up.
- Familiarity with security or compliance constraints and balancing them with safe, supportable operations.
