As a Senior User Researcher, you will serve as a strategic research partner across product, design, and engineering teams. Your responsibilities include:
- Gathering and prioritizing critical research questions from across the organization
- Designing and executing qualitative research (interviews, diary studies, think-aloud usability testing, direct observation) throughout the full product lifecycle
- Conducting quantitative research including survey design, sampling, and statistical analysis
- Translating research findings into clear, compelling, actionable insights for product teams
- Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Analytics, and Data Science teams to build a complete understanding of user needs and product impact
- Growing research culture at Alan by mentoring junior researchers and non-researchers, providing clear feedback and guidance
- Communicating research value to stakeholders and tying findings to concrete business outcomes
You will work onsite in Paris twice per week in a hybrid arrangement.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience as a product or user researcher in a tech environment
- Strong hands-on expertise in qualitative methods: interviews, diary studies, think-aloud usability testing, direct observation
- Solid quantitative research skills: survey design, sampling, crosstabs, core statistical concepts
- Sharp critical thinking to identify valuable research, scope efficiently, and deliver focused insights
- Strategic mindset to partner with product stakeholders and communicate research value
- Compelling communication skills to translate complex findings into clear narratives
- Experience mentoring junior researchers or non-researchers
- Familiarity with AI: either built AI products or closely follow the space with clear views on LLM leverage and production behavior
- Genuine care about healthcare and Alan's mission (essential, not optional)
- English fluency (written and spoken)
- Plus: Fluency in French, Spanish, or another European language
