OpenRouter is the leading AI routing and infrastructure layer that developers and enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize their AI use across models and providers. You'll be the first Product Manager for Ori, OpenRouter's agent platform—a family of tools for deploying any model in the terminal, Slack, and desktop. Ori's mission is to promote multi-model adoption at the application layer, enabling teams to avoid lock-in and leverage model diversity.
The Ori team is small and moves fast. A core team built the current product in a few months. You'll identify the strongest audience for each surface (CLI, Slack, desktop), decide where to focus investment, and set goals for measuring success. You'll balance the needs of developers who live in the terminal with teams in Slack who want accessible agent experiences, ensuring tools are built on primitives that enable the entire ecosystem to build multi-model applications.
You'll work day-to-day with a small team led by one of OpenRouter's co-founders, alongside design, go-to-market, and platform teams. This is a zero-to-one role: taking a product from private testing to a business inside a company that already has distribution.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the agent platform roadmap end-to-end across Harness, Code, Eval, Intern, and Desktop surfaces, from CLI today to teams of interns and multi-agent deployments.
- Set strategy: define target users and competitive positioning for each surface; decide where Ori should invest across coding, cloud, and desktop agents; position Ori as an open reference implementation.
- Take new tools from waitlist to general availability: run private testing and design partners, drive internal dogfooding, instrument adoption/retention/spend.
- Make model fungibility real: implement model switching, provider fallbacks, guaranteed tool dependencies, org guardrails, and eval-driven model selection across any harness and surface.
- Own agent experience end-to-end: install, auth, CLI UX, harness configuration, secrets, connections, and app interfaces. Set the quality bar for consumer-grade experiences.
- Close the loop with go-to-market and platform teams: turn waitlist, tester, and enterprise signal into roadmap; push API and SDK gaps into core product.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of product management or founder experience building developer tools, agent products, or infrastructure for technical users.
- Zero-to-one track record: taken a product from prototype to paying users; comfortable with ambiguity and hard tradeoffs.
- Daily fluency with coding agents: use tools like Claude Code, Codex, Hermes, or OpenCode; have specific opinions about what makes agent loops, harnesses, and tool integrations good.
- Strong technical judgment: read code, run CLIs, inspect traces, reason with engineers about agent loops, tool calling, context management, evals, and cost/latency/quality tradeoffs between models.
- Strong product taste for developer tools: shipped technical products where interaction details matter; can carry that judgment into new interfaces.
- High agency and bias toward action: talk to users, prototype, ship, iterate on small teams with fluid boundaries; write clearly and often.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Founder or early employee of a developer tools or agent company.
- Experience with multi-agent systems, agent skills/memory, or evals and benchmarking products.
- Experience shipping Slack apps or native desktop apps, or growing products with both developer and non-developer users.
- Existing user of OpenRouter or active side projects in AI tooling.
