As a Senior Underwriter for the West Coast, you will drive next-generation risk assessment by moving beyond binary underwriting and leveraging mega data, AI, and analytical curiosity to modernize risk selection, pricing, and coverage terms. You'll work with cutting-edge technology to accurately and quickly assess risk while profitably growing and managing a book of business spanning Habitational and Lessor's Risk Only (LRO) package and excess liability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Quote and release new and renewal habitational business referred from underwriting algorithms or requests exceeding user authority thresholds
- Analyze and approve requested policy changes across the Habitational portfolio
- Maintain familiarity and compliance with state insurance regulations and ISO rules for assigned underwriting territory
- Maintain open, transparent, and supportive communications with team members and interdivisional partners
- Monitor portfolio composition via reports, audits, and inspections
- Support marketing functions and efforts to build and promote Honeycomb
- Complete special projects and assignments
- Travel as needed (less than 20%)
The role is hybrid, based out of the Roseville office three days per week, with flexibility to work remotely within California. REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of underwriting/insurance experience; Commercial Habitational and Specialty Property experience valued but not standalone requirement
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
- Retail agency relationship preferred
- AI proficiency and desire to seek automation and efficiency opportunities
