Salary: USD 112,000 - 162,000 / annual
SeatGeek IQ partners with major sports and entertainment rightsholders to build collaborative pricing and inventory strategies. The Senior Trader role is the senior owner on a subset of the largest partnerships, accountable for pricing calls, inventory position, and partner relationships. You report to the Director of SeatGeekIQ and work across live pricing, inventory strategy, partner management, and research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as senior owner on major sports and entertainment partnerships, setting and defending pricing strategy as markets move
- Own the commercial health of relationships, including renewal posture, escalations, and engagement with partner leadership
- Set and move prices across the event lifecycle (presale through day-of) against sell-through targets, price realization, and spoilage risk
- Decide inventory allocation, release timing, channel distribution, and when to work down positions
- Manage ongoing partner relationships through weekly and event-level reporting, strategy check-ins, and candid market conversations
- Mentor traders earlier in their careers and review their pricing work on high-stakes events
- Answer partner research questions on marketplace behavior, demand drivers, and projections; turn one-off requests into repeatable outputs
- Identify gaps in offerings (services partners request, manual workflows to automate, AI tooling opportunities) and lead pilots and builds
- Close the loop after events with analysis of pricing decisions and outcomes
- Travel approximately 20% of the year or more, concentrated in season, for partner site visits, business reviews, live events (including evenings/weekends), industry conferences, and team offsites
The role emphasizes judgment over assembly, with the team leveraging automation and AI to reduce analytical overhead. You'll be a pricing reference point for the team and the person partner leadership calls first for escalations and strategic decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, statistics, sports management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years in ticket pricing, revenue management, trading, or comparable analytical commercial role, including at least 2 years as owner of client/partner relationships, preferably in sports, live entertainment, or dynamic-pricing industry
- Real sports knowledge: understand how standings, schedules, rivalries, star players, and playoff races move demand; credibly discuss with sports industry veterans
- Genuine awareness of live entertainment, including how touring, on-sales, and routing shape demand
- Significant experience in ticket pricing, revenue management, or comparable analytical commercial role with ownership of pricing decisions involving real money
- Track record as senior owner of significant commercial relationship, having carried a book rather than just executed within one
- Experience being accountable when partnerships are under strain, not only when performing well
- Experience mentoring others, reviewing work, or setting standards others follow
- Fluency with sell-through, price realization, ATP, GTV, and inventory aging; judgment to know when the model is telling you something versus when it isn't
- Comfort with spreadsheets and BI tooling, including reading and questioning data you didn't produce
- Concrete example of turning one-off analysis into something reusable
- Nice to have: experience on rightsholder side (club, league, venue, promoter) or secondary marketplace; exposure to commercial deal structuring; familiarity with data analytics concepts and workflows
