Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Thermal Analyst to join the Test and Analysis team in Lexington, MA. This role focuses on thermal design and analysis across hardware development programs for defense and aerospace systems. You will own thermal aspects of product development from conceptualization through production, executing first-order assessments to guide preliminary design architecture and developing detailed analytical models to mature prototype designs.
Key responsibilities include executing hand calculations, spreadsheet models, and MATLAB/Python first-order analyses to inform design decisions using first principles. You will develop and maintain CFD models and simulations using tools like STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, or Flotherm to predict temperatures, heat transfer, and fluid characteristics. The role requires performing test-model correlation testing to validate analytical predictions and working closely with environmental test engineers to design, instrument, execute, and process validation tests.
You will prepare technical reports presenting findings to internal teams, management, and external customers, and stay current with advancements in thermal analysis techniques, materials technology, and industry standards. The position is part of Anduril's mission to transform military capabilities through advanced technology, supporting the development of systems powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system for command and control.
Required qualifications include an MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics, 7+ years of thermal analysis or thermo-physics experience, proficiency with thermal FEA tools, and familiarity with MATLAB or Python for analytical modeling and data processing. You must have experience with test-model correlation and test-based characterization of critical modeling parameters, work effectively independently and with cross-functional teams, and be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
