Venus Aerospace is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to lead complex engine testing and mechanical test systems operations. This role requires 8+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years supporting engine testing or complex mechanical test systems. You will design, operate, and troubleshoot high-pressure fluid systems, instrumentation, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and automated test systems. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, with demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, manufacturing, operations, and propulsion.
Key responsibilities include providing technical leadership on test operations, mentoring junior engineers, and driving projects to successful completion. You will work with hazardous materials and systems including liquid rocket engines, HTP, RP-1, helium, and cryogenic systems. Experience with CAD modeling (preferably Siemens NX), Teamcenter, and Atlassian suite is highly valued. The role requires delivering new test capabilities on schedule while continuously improving safety, reliability, and efficiency.
This position involves ITAR-controlled technology and requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or eligible authorization from the U.S. Department of State. Work will include outdoor operations in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong troubleshooting and communication skills, a collaborative attitude, and a commitment to technical excellence and mentorship.
