Branch is a data-driven insurance technology company on a mission to make insurance more accessible through innovation in quoting, bundling, and cost reduction. This Senior Territory Manager role is based in Austin, TX and owns a defined state territory, driving volume and quality of business submitted by independent agencies.
This is a relationship-first, field-based role where you are the face of Branch to agency principals and producers. You will build trust, drive adoption of Branch's quoting tools, and coach agencies toward writing business aligned with Branch's appetite. The role replaces a remote, digitally-delivered agency management model with in-person, field-based engagement—your presence in the territory is the product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the territory by building and segmenting a target agency list, deciding where your time is best spent across your agency base, and setting/iterating on a territory plan reviewed by your manager.
- Own the production number: carry a bound premium and policy count target, maintain a pipeline view of appointed agencies and quoting trends, track against target throughout the period, and adjust your plan to close gaps.
- Run a consistent cadence of in-person agency visits, lunch-and-learns, and local events to build face-to-face relationships with principals and producers.
- Leave priority agency conversations with specific production commitments.
- Clearly communicate Branch's frictionless value proposition, appetite, and differentiators to ensure target producers understand core value.
- Educate agencies on Branch's ideal risk profile so quoted business binds, retains, and performs well.
- Train agency stakeholders to quote in Branch's platform before using comparative raters.
- Grow the share of target agencies that produce with consistency and re-engage those that go quiet.
- Address objections from agencies and shoppers directly, repositioning Branch as an ideal choice.
- Transform field intelligence—competitive intel, pricing friction, product gaps—into insights that inform broader independent agency strategy.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Underwriting, and Operations to resolve territory-level barriers to production.
Success is measured by: bound premium and policy count growth against target; quality of business (% of growth against ideal customer profile of bundled home and auto customers with coverage between $400k–$1.2m); and % of target agencies actively producing with consistency.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in a quota- or target-carrying field sales role where you owned a defined geography or book of business. Independent agency distribution, territory/field sales, SaaS sales, or comparable business development role preferred.
- Demonstrated accountability to a specific production number.
- Experience influencing the choices of independent professionals; success depended on people choosing your product/service over alternatives, not on authority over them.
- Existing relationships with independent agencies in the assigned state(s) are helpful.
- Comfort and experience managing a high-travel, self-directed field schedule.
- Strong in-person presentation and group training skills with ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with agency principals and producers.
- Consultative selling acumen; able to diagnose why an agency is/isn't producing for Branch and address actual barriers and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to learn a technical, regulated product well enough to teach it. P&C insurance experience is preferred but not required—product and underwriting appetite training provided, with expectation of command within first quarter.
