Xero is seeking a Senior Technical SEO Manager to own the technical SEO roadmap and analytics function for xero.com, ensuring the platform is discoverable and continuously improving across traditional search engines and AI answer engines.
You will shape how millions of small businesses, accountants, and bookkeepers discover Xero. Working across a site spanning more than a dozen markets, you will lead advanced technical audits, translate findings into a business-impact-prioritized roadmap, and partner with engineering to deliver fixes. You will also own performance measurement, building automated reporting that transforms complex search data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
Answer engine optimization is central to this role. As AI search crawling, understanding, and citation practices are still being defined, you will help define how Xero appears in these emerging channels.
You will join Xero's in-house SEO team, working alongside content marketing, SEO, and AEO specialists, reporting to the Head of SEO. The team is AI-native with end-to-end automated workflows and custom tooling. The culture emphasizes continuous learning, testing novel approaches, and collaborative problem-solving, with close partnerships across engineering, marketing technology, and marketing operations.
Initial focus areas include: conducting a full technical audit of the marketing website across markets with business-impact prioritization; defining and owning the technical SEO roadmap with clear stakeholder visibility; partnering with engineering and marketing technology to embed best practices and deliver fixes; owning the SEO analytics function with automated reporting and strategic insight delivery; and automating technical SEO workflows with AI agents to scale analysis and accelerate delivery.
Xero offers flexible working with hybrid and remote options across Australia and New Zealand.

- Strong SEO analytics capability, including building reporting frameworks, with proficiency in tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and the Google suite
- Hands-on experience with AI, having built agents, automations, or workflows to scale your own work
- Systems thinking ability to understand how technical decisions ripple across content, product, and business outcomes
- Strong cross-functional influence with a track record of translating technical requirements into briefs that engineering teams can execute
