As Senior Technical SEO Manager at Xero, you will own the technical SEO roadmap and SEO analytics function for xero.com, ensuring the platform is discoverable and continuously improving across traditional search engines and AI answer engines. Your work directly impacts how millions of small businesses, accountants, and bookkeepers discover Xero.
You will lead the technical SEO strategy across a multi-market website spanning more than a dozen regions. Key responsibilities include conducting advanced technical audits, translating findings into a business-impact-prioritized roadmap, and partnering with engineering teams to deliver fixes. You will also own the SEO analytics function, building automated reporting that converts complex search data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
Answer engine optimization is central to this role. As AI search continues to evolve, you will help define how Xero is crawled, understood, and cited by AI systems. You will join Xero's in-house SEO team, working alongside content marketing, SEO, and AEO specialists, reporting to the Head of SEO. The team is AI-native with end-to-end automated workflows and custom tooling. You will partner closely with engineering, marketing technology, and marketing operations teams.
Initial focus areas include leading a full technical audit of the marketing website across markets, defining and maintaining the technical SEO roadmap with clear stakeholder visibility, embedding technical SEO best practices with engineering and marketing technology, owning SEO analytics and strategic reporting, and automating technical SEO workflows with AI agents to scale analysis and accelerate delivery.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep, hands-on technical SEO expertise across crawl and indexation, internationalization, rendering, schema markup, and site architecture
- Substantial SEO experience with multiple years in a technical SEO-focused role, ideally at a SaaS, technology brand, or e-commerce company with complex multi-regional sites
- Strong SEO analytics capability, including building reporting frameworks, with proficiency in tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and the Google suite
- Hands-on experience with AI, having built agents, automations, or workflows to scale your own work
- Systems thinking ability to understand how technical decisions ripple across content, product, and business outcomes
- Strong cross-functional influence with a track record of translating technical requirements into briefs that engineering teams can execute
