The Senior Technical Project Manager will join the Program Management team within Research & Development, a strategic function that operates at the intersection of people, product, and AI-augmented delivery. This is not an administrative role—you will own complex, end-to-end initiatives and make meaningful decisions that contribute to Thinkific's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end delivery of high-stakes, cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, product, data, and go-to-market teams from scoping through launch
- Define what "done" looks like and hold the organization accountable to delivery commitments
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships at all levels (engineers, product managers, executives, external partners)
- Surface trade-offs clearly, manage competing priorities, and align teams
- Leverage AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, Notion AI) as a force multiplier for status updates, risk synthesis, meeting summaries, and decision-making
- Translate business objectives into executable project plans by identifying dependencies, sequencing work, and proactively flagging scope/timeline/resource shifts
- Anticipate problems before they become blockers; build contingency plans and facilitate early conversations
- Define and reinforce standards for shipping: quality gates, rollout plans, retrospectives, and post-mortems that drive change
- Own executive-level AI-assisted reporting with clear status updates, risk dashboards, and decision-ready briefings
The role operates in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment where you'll work with ambiguity and change, collaborate across functions, and take ownership without being asked.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical project management or program management, with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives in software or SaaS environments
- Genuinely technical background (not required to write code, but must understand how software is built and what makes architecture decisions hard)
- AI-fluent: actively use AI tools in day-to-day work and comfortable helping teams define guardrails for responsible AI use
- Systems thinker who holds the whole picture (dependencies, risks, resource constraints, business context) while staying sharp on critical details
- Clear communicator who writes concisely, adapts messaging to audience, and explains technical blockers in plain language
- Experienced with modern delivery frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Kanban)
- Data-informed; uses metrics to track progress and make decisions
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill development
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in B2B SaaS or learning product companies
- Familiarity with evaluating and rolling out AI tooling within engineering or product teams
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification
- Experience managing vendor relationships or third-party integrations at scale
