Hypersonica is building Europe's hypersonic defence capability. This Technical Programme Associate role sits at the intersection of engineering delivery and programme management, supporting the day-to-day execution of complex defence programmes.
You will work directly with engineering teams to understand technical progress, translate it into clear programme status and risk assessments, and provide decision inputs to stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting day-to-day programme delivery with focus on technical scope, risk, and engineering maturity
- Translating customer requirements, technical specifications, and complex engineering information into clear plans, milestones, and actionable next steps
- Preparing materials for and supporting technical reviews, tracking actions to closure
- Managing relationships with technical partners and subcontractors, coordinating deliverables and holding them to schedule and quality standards
- Ensuring safety and assurance frameworks (airworthiness, range safety, product safety) are correctly understood and applied
- Supporting commercial and programme activities including delivery planning and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy
- Building fluency in the underlying hypersonic technology to engage credibly with engineering teams and represent technical status to stakeholders
- Taking ownership of defined workstreams and increasingly complex technical and programme responsibilities
The role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of complex defence programmes, from customer requirements through engineering delivery to flight testing. You will operate with high autonomy and ownership, working in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment where good ideas are implemented quickly and flight-test feedback drives real decisions.
Hypersonica is deliberately small and intensely capable, hiring for talent and broad technical capability rather than rigid role definitions. The company values clarity, integrity, and excellence, with a culture that supports initiative and responsible boundary-pushing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a technical or engineering-adjacent environment (aerospace, defence, engineering consulting, deep-tech start-up, or similarly demanding high-paced setting)
- Background in engineering, physics, materials science, or similarly technical discipline, with genuine fluency in engineering content
- Ability to break down complex or technically ambiguous problems, structure thinking, and turn analysis into practical action
- Comfortable operating between technical detail and programme execution; not confined to slides, reports, or recommendations
- Strong communicator who can translate technical content for non-technical audiences and translate programme/commercial constraints back to engineering terms
- Experience managing external partners and subcontractors, holding them to schedule and quality standards
- Comfortable navigating safety, quality, and regulatory frameworks (airworthiness, range safety, product safety)
- Organised, dependable, able to manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail
- Fluent or native-level German and fluent English, with confidence to operate in bilingual, cross-cultural settings
