Gamma is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to build and lead the tax function end-to-end, reporting to the Director of Accounting. This is a hands-on builder's role where you'll own the global tax strategy and compliance calendar for a fast-growing B2B SaaS company with tens of millions of users worldwide. Key responsibilities include: - Lead Gamma's complete tax function in partnership with the Director of Accounting, managing the global tax calendar and external advisor relationships - Own global indirect tax across self-serve and enterprise business lines, including US sales and use tax (nexus analysis, registrations, filings) and international VAT, GST, and digital services tax obligations - Manage quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, reviewing US federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns and estimated payments - Handle local tax obligations including franchise, property, gross receipts, and business licenses while maintaining controls and audit support - Advise on tax implications of international expansion, entity structuring, transfer pricing, and equity compensation - Design and implement scalable tax processes and technology solutions, leveraging AI and automation to keep the function lean as the business scales You'll bring an active CPA license, bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and 8+ years of progressive tax experience spanning Big Four public accounting and in-house industry roles. Deep technical expertise in ASC 740 tax provision, multi-state corporate income tax, and US sales and use tax compliance is essential. Strong working knowledge of global indirect tax (VAT, GST, digital services taxes) for SaaS or digital products is required. You have a builder's mindset with proven experience creating tax processes and controls from scratch, managing external advisors, and automating manual work. You operate strategically and hands-on with limited oversight, translate complex tax issues clearly for non-tax partners, and are genuinely excited about AI tools. Nice-to-have qualifications include a Master's in Taxation, experience with tax technology platforms (Anrok, Avalara, Vertex), transfer pricing or international structuring experience, or background at a high-growth SaaS or AI company. Gamma maintains a strong in-office culture with 4–5 days per week in San Francisco, with flexibility to work from home when focus is needed.
